Experience in Police

Dr. Veerendra Mishra is an IPS officer from Madhya Pradesh. 

He has also served as Civilian Police Officer (CIVPOL) in two United Nations Missions. One year in Bosnia Herzegovina and one year in Kosovo.

He has received various awards and recognitions, internationally and nationally, for his contribution. 

Deputation to GOI

He has served for 7 years (2014-2021) in Government of India, as CEO of CARA (Ministry of Women and Child Development), Executive Director of NYKS and National Director of NSS (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports) and Director of NISD (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment). 

International Representation

He has represented Indian Government of India delegation in Uganda (Commonwealth), China (BRICS), Palestine (Youth exchange), Thailand (ESCAP, UNODC), Hague (UN Convention on Adoption), Vienna (UNODC), Brazil (UNODC). 

Pro-bono positions

External Advisor to National Commission for Women, Government of India (2022-2024).

An Emeritus Resource Faculty in Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), a Central University and an Institution of National Importance, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Contributions in Law making

He has contributed in law making and policies of Government of India, including JJ Act and its Rules (Juvenile Justice Act-2014), Transgender Act and its Rules (2019/2020), Human Trafficking Bill (2022), and Adoption Guidelines (2015).

Educational qualification 

PhD in psychology and MA in Sociology.

Recipient of prestigious H. Humphrey, Fulbright Scholarship (USA), and Kalinga fellowship. 

Resource Person

He has presented on human trafficking in various universities in USA, including Boston University, Georgetown University, George Mason, Buffalo State University and University of Minnesota; and Pomeranian University in Słupsk, Poland

He has taught human trafficking at Jindal Global University, Tata Institute of Social Sciencebesides other institutions in India. 

He has trained on human trafficking, Member of Legislative Assemblies, IPS officers and other police officers, Academicians and civil society organisation members. 

He is resource to NCW (National Commission for Women), NHRC (National Human Rights Commission), NCPCR (National Commission for Protection of Child Rights), LBSNAA (Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration) and NPA (National Police Academy). 

He is the founder of first anti-human trafficking lab in India, RACE Lab (Research, Advocacy and Capacity Building against Exploitation, Lab) and Samvedna, an NGO based out of Bhopal. 

Publications

He has published 7 books (5 non-fiction and 2 fiction) by now, including four from SAGE Publication and one from Routledge (Taylor and Francis), India. One novel and a short story book are the other two books published. He has also published various articles in national and international journals. Currently, he has finished writing a webseries (human trafficking based story) and film story/script. 


The Society for Culture & Environment will hold the fourth edition of 'Heartland Stories — Bhopal Literature and Art Festival 2022 as a physical cum virtual event, between 25-27th March 2022.
