Pratap Verma was in  the managerial position at Union Carbide India Ltd  at the time of gas tragedy and was working in the formulation unit that was approximately 200 meters away(up stream on the railway yard side) from the MIC unit.
He had worked with UCIL for more than 18 years and is consversant with the aftermath of the gas tragedy.
In the later years,he  contributed significantly towards the economic development of Madhya Pradesh as secretary to the federation of MP chamber of commerce and industry and also as investment advisor to Madhya Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation( MPSIDC).
