About

Manu Srivastava

Introduction

A 1991 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, Manu Srivastava holds B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi. Out of the 31 years of experience, Manu has worked for 16 years in energy sector, namely, natural gas, electricity, and renewable energy. He has lead path-breaking innovative projects in the field of solar energy. His 750 MW Rewa Project has proved to be an inflection point in the history of solar energy in India: it was the first project in the country to provide solar energy at rates lower than that of coal-based power. It is the only project in the country supplying power to an institutional customer - Delhi Metro is running on this project – 65% of its daytime demand is met with solar power from Rewa. The project has been awarded World Bank Group’s President’s Award. Case study on the project is being used in Harvard University and Singapore Management University. His Solar Rooftop projects have established a new way of setting up solar rooftop projects in the country – zero investment by the beneficiary and savings for 25 years. In this model, MP got the lowest rate in the country. The project has been successfully implemented in over hundred organisations in the state. He is presently working to implement rooftop solar projects in Panchayati Raj Institutions of the country without any investment by PRIs/government under the Gram Urja Swaraj initiative of Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India. Both these projects have been selected by Capacity Building Commission, Government of India as among the top 15 “Innovations in Public Administration” in the country. He is engaged, both nationally and internationally, as an expert in renewable energy. He is presently heading two departments in the Government of Madhya Pradesh as Additional Chief Secretary: Technical Education, Skill Development & Employment, and Cottage and Rural Industry.
