Amitabh Pande

Introduction

Prof Amitabh Pande is Director of Indira Gandhi Rastriya Manav Sanghralyay, Bhopal (Minsitry of Culture, Govt of India). He is expert committee Member in upcoming Tribal Musuem in Rastrapati Bhavan New delhi.He led IGRMS in Art Archietcture Design in Desahaj Theme Biennale New Delhi organised by Ministry of Culture Govt of India. He is a member of Madhya Pradesh Wetland Authority, Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Dr Amitabh Pande has done PhD in Anthroplogy from the University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad. He is Environment Anthropologist, with a focused area of research in Cultural conservation, museum science, Public Policy Analysis, Indiegonous Knowledge & Biodiversity Conservation, and Collective action in Natural Resoruce Management. He has expertise in indoor and outdoor museum on sacred groves and indigineous conservation of culture.

Prior to joining IGRMS Bhopal. he was Professor of Anthropology, Chairperson, International Centre of Community Forestry (ICCF) and Chairperson Training at Indian Institute of Forest Management Bhopal Minsirty of Environmentand Forest & Climate Change Government of India, prior to joining as Director IGRMS Bhopal.  

For the past 29 years, he is an active Researcher, Consultant, and Trainer. He has done about 50 research and Consultancy projects, funded by an international and national organisations like World Bank, GIZ, UNDP, UNICEF, JICA, WRI, JSDF, European Union, ICSSR, DST, MOEFCC, MOTA, etc. He has trained senior officers of the SAARC countries (Bhutan and Bangladesh). He has conducted more than 100 trainings for international, national and state organisations. 

His recent book is “Corporate Biodiversity Management for Sustainable Growth: Assessment of Policies and Action Plans edited book published by Springer Nature. Besides this, he has more than 50 publications in journals, book chapters and reports and four more books to his credit. 

He also had a long sports career and he was University Badminton Champion from 1988-92 and had led Hyderabad University Badminton and Cricket team in the All India Inter-University Games and IIFM team in the All India Forest Meet held annually. He loves horse riding and mountaineering.
