Arun Kamal

Introduction

Born 15 February 1954 at Nasariganj in Bihar,Arun Kamal is a leading Indian poet writing in Hindi.
He has seven poetry collections to his credit.
He has published two volumes of literary essays and a book of conversations.
Has also published a verse play and an autobiographical narrative,besides a good deal of translations from other Indian and foreign languages.
His writings for children include a collection of essays and a short novel.
He has been the editor of Aalochana,a prestigious journal of literary criticism, for thirty of its numbers.
Also contributed columns to Navbharat Times,Prabhat Khabar,Literate World and Sakał (Marathi).
Received several awards including Sahitya Akademi Award (1996), Bhartiya Bhabha Parishad’s Samagra Krititva Samman and Nirala Samman.
Represented India at literary meets in over a dozen of countries ,and his poems have been translated into several languages home and abroad.
Served as a teacher of English at Patna University.
