Poonam Surie is an author, independent researcher and poet. Her professional experience includes teaching at Delhi University and students in schools in Bhutan, New York and Beijing. She has met and interacted with people from different cultures and the Indian diaspora.
Her writings cover the philosophical underpinnings of civilizations, religion and contemporary Chinese society.
Her first book, ‘China: A Search for its Soul’ spans ancient links between China and India, Chinese society and the return of religion there, particularly Buddhism. Her second ,‘China: Confucius in the Shadows’ deals with Confucian philosophy and its relevance in contemporary China.
Her latest book, 'Contemporary China: Tradition and Modernity' covers issues, ranging from societal to environmental issues and negotiations between the Party state and the private sector.
