Dr. Debajit Palit is a researcher, practitioner, author, editor, and trainer. Dr. Palit has more than 26 years of experience working in the domain of renewable energy, energy transition, clean energy access, micro-grids and energy-livelihood-gender nexus. He is featured in the Top 2% World's Scientists Ranking by Stanford University for the last 4 years in a row. Currently, Dr. Palit is the Centre Head, Centre for Climate Change and Energy Transition at Chintan Research Foundation (CRF), an emerging thinktank committed to advancing innovation and shaping policy through rigorous research and thought leadership.
Earlier Dr. Palit served as a Professor of Energy at NTPC School of Business and Director & Senior Fellow at The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI), where he led the Rural Energy & Livelihood Division for almost a decade. Dr. Palit is also Vice President (honorary) of Indian Association for Energy Economics, Associate Editor of the acclaimed Energy for Sustainable Development journal and is on the Editorial Board of the journal Environmental Research Communications.
Dr. Palit possesses vast national and international experiences, working in projects across 17 countries in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. He is a prolific writer and has published 3 books and 150 research papers in scholarly journals, conference proceedings and books. He is also a sought-out speaker and has participated in more than 100 national and international conferences and workshops across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
Dr. Palit holds Master’s degree in Physics, Post Graduate Diploma in Non-conventional Energy Technology and a Ph.D. in Energy Policy.
