Sunil Shukla, a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), is an independent filmmaker based in Bhopal. He started his professional career by assisting Mr. Shyam Benegal in ‘Bharat Ek Khoj.’ After the first brush with the large canvas of Indian culture and civilization in ‘Discovery of India,’ a deep yearning to understand the myriad strands of Indian culture took deep roots inside. This yearning led him to create various documentaries on the cultural and artistic aspects of life. His work has always been woven around the cultural core of human beings and social issues, especially marginal ones. He has made more than 150 documentaries, which have been shown on many national and international television channels. His strong social and political consciousness, considerable artistic distinction, and filmic versatility have earned him a unique and distinguished position among other independent filmmakers in central India. Apart from this, Sunil Shukla is an avid art and social activist, an art promoter, and a design educator and consultant. Sunil Shukla is the vice chairman of SPIC MACAY (the Society for the Promotion of Indian Culture and Music Amongst Youth), Bhopal, and is one of the key figure in coordinating activities and with the media as well. He is the founder convener of the ArtDesign Teachers’ Forum and Music and Dance Teachers’ Forum to empower school educators in visual and performing arts, organizing activities for teachers and students alike. He is the Joint Secretary of the Child Rights Observatory Madhya Pradesh, which was established with the support of UNICEF'. He is the vice chairman of HelpBox, an organisation to support children. Sunil Shukla is a multifaceted professional. He is a film critic, anchor, motivational speaker, cultural organizer, mental health advocate, and creative career counselor. His contributions span diverse domains, consistently reflecting his commitment to humanistic values and cultural enrichment.
