Dr Rima Hooja

Introduction

An archaeologist, historian and writer, Dr. Rima Hooja has a Ph.D from Cambridge University. She is currently Director of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Jaipur, Director Jaigarh Fort, Trustee Maharaja Ganga Singhji Trust Bikaner; Managing Trustee Jaipur Virasat Foundation; Visiting Faculty School of Planning & Architecture Delhi, Adjunct Faculty Ahmedabad University, & Vice President ICOMOS India. 
A former Member of India’s National Monuments Authority Govt of India; and of the Central Advisory Board for Archaeology [CABA] Govt of India, she is a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain & Ireland, & a Distinguished International Academician of Minnesota University (USA).
She has been Associate Professor at Kota Open University, Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies, Director Minnesota University’s MSID India Program, Faculty Director New York State Independent College Consortium for Study in India Program, and Vice-President COMOS India (ICOMOS India). She has held various academic posts and serves on several governing boards, committees and councils.
Books by her include Ahar Culture & Beyond (BAR Oxford 1988); Prince, Patriot, Parliamentarian (HarperCollins 1997); Environment Degradation (Aalekh 1992); Crusader for Self-Rule (Rawat, 1999); Mandan’s ‘Devata-Murti-Prakarnam’ (Prakrit Bharat, 1999);  History of Rajasthan (Rupa 2006); Constructing Rajpootana-Rajasthan, (co-edited, Rawat 2009), Conserving Fortified Heritage (co-edited, Cambridge Scholars Press UK 2016), Rajasthani Stories Retold (Niyogi Books, 2017), Rajasthan: A Concise History (Rupa 2018), Forts of Maharashtra (co-edited; 2021), and Maharana Pratap: The Invincible Warrior (Juggernaut Books, 2018). She has written over 75 papers and articles. She runs the Animal Care Trust housing about 60 cats.
