About
Mukul Kumar is a civil servant, novelist, and poet. A civil servant from the 1997 batch of the Indian Railway Traffic Service, he is currently serving in the Railway Board under the Ministry of Railways. His body of work includes three well- received novels:
● As Boys Become Men
● Seduction by Truth
● Lost in the Love Maze
He has to his credit three acclaimed poetry anthologies as well:
● The Irrepressible Echoes
● Catharsis
● Rhythm of the Ruins
Mukul has made a foray into Hindi writing as well by translating his debut English fiction “As Boys Become Men”. It has been published as “Aarohi”.
Mukul is a regular voice at leading literary platforms across India. His appearances include prestigious forums such as Unmesha (Bhopal) organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sahitya Akademi, Sahitya Aajtak (Delhi), and the Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF). He is the Life Member of the Poetry Society
(India). His literary and public service contributions have earned him multiple accolades, including:
● National Award for outstanding service to Indian Railways
● Bharat Nirman Award for literary excellence
● “Srijan Shikhar puraskar” by Nandi Sewa Nyas for his Hindi novel “Aarohi”
● Poorvanchal Gaurav Samman for his impact as both a bureaucrat and a writer
● His latest poetry collection “Rhythm of the Ruins” achieved the distinction of being recommended for Sahitya Akademi Award, 2024.
