Vinay Varman

Introduction

Vinay Kumar Varman is a senior Indian Forest Service officer with wide-ranging experience in wildlife conservation, ecotourism, and agri-development. Trained to handle wildlife emergencies—including man-eater tigers, panthers, and marauding elephants—he has been closely involved in frontline conservation. During his service, he played a key role in the creation of the proposed Omkareshwar Sanctuary across Khandwa and Dewas districts.

On deputation, he served as Managing Director of M.P. Rajya Beej evam Farm Vikas Nigam, contributing to agricultural development and seed sector reforms. As CEO of the Madhya Pradesh Ecotourism Development Board, he pioneered tourism in buffer areas of tiger reserves (now known as Buffer Mein Safar) and launched the Anubhuti programme, introducing schoolchildren to wildlife and conservation. His career reflects a rare blend of field expertise, institution-building, and public engagement.
