Aditi Ghosh Mehta is a retired officer of the Rajasthan cadre of the IAS and has worked largely in the tribal and rural areas of the state. The 3-volume book," Playing With the Goddess: Gavri of the Mewar Bhils" while the result of a continuous engagement with the Bhil tribals, their life and culture over 45 years, is essentially a close look at the enactments and visual language of a major ritual in Bhil contemporary life. In addition to this specific issue, Mehta is interested in issues of marginality, current local cultures and issues of local crafts and their survival.
