Abinash is the Global Sector Head of Climate Change and Sustainability at IPE-Global- an International development organization working across 15 geographies, including India, Africa, and South Asia. He is an expert reviewer of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) sixth assessment report (AR6): Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability and also a member of the Resource Advisory Group of NABARD and a member of the National Steering Committee on Climate Change for Government of India. His work is focused on climate change risk assessment and adaptation solutions for concerned stakeholders, with a special focus on community-led actions. As a climate scientist he has led research on climate risks and adaptations for multilateral, intergovernmental organizations and devised India's first-of-its-kind Climate Vulnerability Index for India and have been establishing Climate Risk Observatories across India, South Asia and Africa. He was the Founding Centre Director at the Centre for Environment, Energy and Climate Change under the aegis of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, where he pursued and led intense research on climate finance, climate change risks, agricultural risk assessment, water resources management, disaster economics, climate change governance, and allied issues. He is also a member of the American Geophysical Union (AGU). He has presented in many national and international forums. His columns also feature and are widely read in various Indian national and international dailies.
