About
Devanshi Khetarpal is a writer and translator. She is graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop where she studied fiction as a Sonny Mehta and Truman Capote fellow. She is an MFA Candidate in Literary Translation at the University of Iowa and a Graduate Research Assistant for the University of Iowa’s International Writing Program. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Comparative Literature from New York University, where she specialized in Italian Studies. Devanshi is an Associate Poetry Editor for The Bombay Literary Magazine and her work has been published in The Threepenny Review, The Masters Review, Indiana Review, Public Books, Scroll and Poetry at Sangam, among others. She is the recipient of the James Michener-Copernicus Society Award from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, a finalist for American Short Fiction’s Halifax Ranch Prize, and the recipient of an Honorable Mention for the Prufer Poetry Prize. Her work has been supported by the Iowa Translation Workshop, Iowa Writers’ Workshop, Bread Loaf Translators’ Conference, Andrew Mellon Foundation and NYU Center for the Humanities. She translates from Hindi and Italian, and is currently working on a collection of short stories set in Bhopal and a novel. She is from Bhopal.
